Gilfach Wen is both a working farm and the venue for courses in holistic equine care and farming/smallholding.
Gilfach Wen is adjacent to Brechfa Forest, the largest man made forest in Europe. There are currently two mountain bike trails in the forest and a third will be built in 2008. All of the 50 square miles of forest is open to walkers, horse riders and cyclists, and there is a network of public footpaths, bridleways and byways crossing the common land and farmland surrounding the forest. The forest is a venue for pleasure rides and the RAC rally.
